Tomorrow is Chile’s independence day. Holidays are kind of a big deal here so there will be lots of parades, fiestas, and traditional Chilean Asados with all of the best foods Chile has to offer.Tomorrow also marks just over a year since my family moved to Chile and I thought it would be nice to show you some of our life here. I thought you might like to go to shopping with me.
We currently live in a very small town on the outskirts of Futrono called Llifen but we do all of our everyday shopping in Futrono. Futrono is a quaint little lakeside town in Patagonia. Just driving to Futrono we are met with some of the most amazing views
Shopping in a place like this is very different from how people shop in the US. There aren’t Superstores everywhere that carry every type of product you need. Each of the small mercados carry different things and we have found the ones we like the best. We have a list of 5 or 6 stores that we frequent for all of our groceries.
Just like there are not huge stores, there are no fast foods or convenience foods. The closest thing we have found is the Pap Schop where we get like 5 rotisserie chickens at least once a week. I don’t know how they make it taste so good but it is amazing!
Oh and there is a restaurant there that we love. They serve the most amazing steaks.
So that is where we do our shopping right now. Next time I want to do a post to show some pictures of Llifen.
